Gobi ke Pakode or Cauliflower Fritters
Ingredients
- Onion – 1 cup
- Gram flour – 3 tablespoons
- Green chilies (chopped) – 6 or as per your taste
- Red chilli powder – ½ teaspoon
- Garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste.
- Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
- Hot oil – 2 tablespoons
- Oil for frying (take sufficient amount, as 2 tbsp will be used to mix in batter)
Method
Note: This recipe does not need water at all.
1)- Split the cauliflower into small florets and wash them.
2)- Finely chop the green chilies.
3)- Mix the florets with chili powder, turmeric powder, garlic paste, green chillies and salt in a bowl.
4)- Now add gram flour and mix well. This batter should be just hard enough to pick up with fingers (don’t add water). Let it rest for 5 minutes.
5)- Heat the oil in a frying pan. When oil starts to smoke, reduce the heat to medium.
6)- In the previously prepared cauliflower florets mixture add two tablespoons of this hot oil and mix well. Now your batter is ready for frying.
7)- Now drop a small ball of the prepared batter into the remaining hot oil in the pan.
8)- Cook in medium flame until all sides are golden brown, with the spatula take them out of the oil and place them in a plate over the paper towel so that extra oil is absorbed by the towel.
9)- Repeat the process until all the pakoras are made.
10)- Serve the pakoras hot with coriander chutney or tomato sauce or Tea.
