- Which wheat flour is best for cake?
Soft wheat flour is best for cake and pastries. Hard wheat flour is best used in yeast bread.
Ingredients
- Wheat flour – 3 cups
- Curd – 2 cups (at room temperature)
- jaggery powder – 1 & 1/2 cups
- Baking powder – 2teaspoons
- Baking soda – 1 teaspoon
- White oil – 1 cup
- Warm milk – 1/2 cup
- Vanilla essence – 2 teaspoons
- Chopped walnuts – 4 tablespoons
Instructions
Step 1: Start by preparing the parchment paper
- Place your round cake tin (6 inches pan) on top of a sheet of parchment paper and use the pencil to draw around it. Cut out the shape and set aside.
- Now grease a round cake tin with little oil. Next, add a spoonful of flour to the inside of the cake tin. Tap the tin and move the flour around the interior surface. Tapping out any excess flour (Make sure to turn the tin upside down to get rid of any excess flour).
- Now take your circle of parchment paper and pop it into the bottom of the cake tin.
How to make a cake with wheat flour?
Step 2: Preparing the Batter
- Preheat your oven to 180°C for 20 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the curd and baking soda until well combined. Add jaggery powder and mix well making sure jaggery dissolves completely.
- Now add oil and vanilla essence and mix well until batter smooth.
Step 3: Mixing Dry Ingredients
- In a mixing bowl, sift together whole wheat flour (Atta) and baking powder. Set aside.
- Take chopped walnuts in a bowl. Add a spoonful of the sifted flour and mix well and set aside.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients while gently folding the mixture. Now add warm milk & half chopped walnut mixtures and mix well together but be careful not to overmix the batter.
Step 4: Baking the Cake
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the chopped walnut mixtures on cake batter. Gently tap the pan. Bake for 50 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 20 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 5: Serving the Cake
- Once the cake has cooled, slice it into wedges and serve.
